Maccabiah Games 2022
Netball U18 – Jodie Bloom

fdu is proud to be sponsoring Jodie Bloom, a member of the Team Maccabi GB U18 netball squad taking part in the 21st Maccabiah Games in Israel, July 2022 – the largest Jewish international sports tournament.

The Maccabiah Games are now the third largest sporting event in the world, after the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games, taking place in Israel every four years. The Games were unfortunately delayed by a year due to the pandemic, so excitement is high for July 2022!

Jodie is training hard with her team in preparation for this year’s Maccabiah Games and will be keeping us up to date on her progress in the run up to the event.

Hadley Rangers

We are proud to be sponsoring the Hadley Rangers U15 team. Hadley Rangers Youth FC is a local Barnet football club and features a number of league teams, all of which compete in the Watford Friendly League. Localised youth football is community-driven and at Hadley Rangers Youth they not only have qualified coaches to help bring the best out in players as they progress through the age groups, but also a dedicated workforce of parent-volunteers who help to successfully run the club.

“Hadley Rangers is delighted to have the support of fdu for the fourth year running. Without the generous commitment of our sponsors our club would not be able to provide the top quality equipment, facilities and coaching that makes Youth sport such an enriching experience for all participants. Thank you to the fdu team for their continued support.”
Richard Hildebrand, Chairman

“Hadley Rangers U15s are really pleased to be sponsored by fdu this season. They have been a great supporter of the club and grassroots sports for many years. With fdu’s help we’re able to provide first class facilities and coaching for every player – encouraging them to play competitive and fun football in a safe and respectful environment. The U15s will do everything they can to make their friends at fdu proud of them this season through hard work and fair play.”

Pedal Taiwan Eight Hour Challenge
9 September 2021

fdu is taking part in an exciting day’s cycling, testing our endurance and team spirit in an eight-hour team relay race with friends and colleagues, raising funds for Action Medical Research.

The relay cycle race is for teams of four riders, aiming to complete as many laps as possible within the time available. It’s all happening at the 3.9km wide and smooth Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit and will be chip timed with a mobile app to help you follow our progress towards the finishing flag.

A current key focus of Action Medical Research is funding research into the effects of Covid-19 on pregnancy, babies and children. Please support our crazy-pedalling team in raising funds for this worthy cause and to help Action Medical Research fund even more life-changing research to benefit children and their families for generations to come.

A little more about Action Medical Research
For 70 years Action Medical Research has been funding medical breakthroughs to help save and change the lives of babies and children …. starting with the first polio vaccines in the UK, later helping to develop the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and then the rubella and meningitis vaccines.
Today, there are hundreds of thousands of sick and disabled children in the UK who need help. Action finds and funds the best research to help these children but can only do this with your support.

SUSF Altitude Record Attempt

We are proud to be sponsoring Southampton University Spaceflight Society‘s altitude record attempt: to break the F-class motor altitude record (4386 ft).

Over the next year, they will be constructing a rocket with research being done in a few key areas relating to the rocket such as aerodynamics, structure, materials, recovery of the rocket, stability and strength at speeds greater than Mach 1 and solid rocket motors.

Success Criteria will include:

  • Construction of a strong and lightweight rocket
  • Testing this design using smaller motors to lower altitudes
  • Making the top three altitude records for F-class motors
  • Breaking the current record of 4368 feet
  • Demonstrating the reusability of the rocket over a period of time
The team have come up with some great designs in a short space of time. They are currently researching: carbon fibre parts for the fins and body tube; what type of motor to use (F51 vs F85); how to reduce drag by using components such as a boat tail; and they will be conceptualising designs in a CAD package.
