Last week fdu hosted another very successful event in our Committed to Growth Business Breakfast Series. We were delighted to welcome back speaker Rory Coleman, the UK’s leading ultra-marathon coach, who spoke about the Process of Change – how to define your future and what to do when the future defines us. In a highly motivational and relevant talk, Rory took us through his recent experience of being struck down by Guillain-Barre Syndrome, having to learn to walk again … and going on to complete this year’s Marathon des Sables, a multi-stage 150 mile footrace across the Sahara desert.

Held at fdu’s Southbank offices, guests from the Finance and Business communities gathered to hear Rory’s story, his thoughts on goal setting, dealing with setbacks and getting into the ‘Elite’ mind set. As well as being an accomplished inspirational speaker, Rory has coached numerous Business Leaders and Corporations from Dixons Carphone, GoCompare, Marks & Spencer and SMEG UK using his acclaimed Average2Awesome Programme.

Our guests and the fdu team left the session feeling inspired, energised and wanting to hear more about Rory’s synergies in performance across both business and sport as well as harnessing change to bring about positive results in the workplace.

“Thanks very much for inviting me to join this morning’s event. Rory is incredibly motivating. I am feeling super excited about my future. Watch this space and let’s see what I can create.”

“Thanks again for the breakfast event this morning. Very good to have such out of the box thoughts once in a while and indeed Rory’s story was quite fascinating.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed the morning, the talk, the company, your colleagues and your guests – an excellent event.”
