Bitfury’s proposition and products sit at the heart of the Blockchain growth phenomenon, and as such is positioned perfectly for even greater significant growth. As a truly global organisation with operations (and over 300 staff) in Europe, Asia and North America, the Company is at present looking to increase its headcount by over a 100 employees in the near term. Additionally revenues will hit c$300m in March 2018, with c$500m projected one year later, with the aim of reaching c$1bn by 2021.

The Situation

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has recently joined the company. In order to enable such determined scale, the CFO has identified that the financial systems must be evolved. In addition, the Finance team need a strong leader to assist and mentor them through this period of sustained growth. By hiring a world class Group Financial Controller (GFC), the CFO will be able to focus on a broader set of strategic, commercial and operational Finance activities.

Group Financial Controller Position Specification

The GFC will report directly into the CFO and will lead the overall Financial control and accounting of the company, helping it to achieve its growth objectives.

  • Ensuring all monthly consolidated reporting is achieved to strict deadlines;
  • Working with the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to develop robust, accurate, insightful monthly management reporting;
  • Leading all statutory reporting and compliance for the Group and its subsidiaries, managing the annual audit;
  • Leading on all complex technical IFRS accounting issues (e.g. IFRS 15 implementation);
  • Building internal controls globally, developing automated processes around the core ERP system (Netsuite);
  • Developing and mentoring the core Finance team based in Tbilisi;
  • Developing global treasury and risk management policy and process.
  • A top class academic profile;
  • A qualified accountant with at least 10 years post qualification experience covering both practice and industry;
  • Large company (best practice training) combined with mid-cap / SME experience;
  • Technically strong with a deep routed interest in IFRS compliance, possessing the ability to understand complex financial contracts and the accounting treatment thereof;
  • Recent leadership experience of systems development and controls implementation, ideally gained in an International high growth environment. Demonstrable experience in the planning, risk assessment, timing and execution elements of such a project; ERP implementation experience;
  • The ability to automate supply chain accounting. Possessing physical product / hardware experience;
  • Experience in building high performing finance teams across multiple countries;
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
